Sweet Boy

Dylan has done amazingly well with his little sister so far.
Being a big brother has given him motivation to do everything "All By Myself!" and this one handed mama couldn't be more pleased! He's totally potty trained - home, store, church - only wearing a pull-up on Sunday mornings (this won't be for long) naptime, and night-time. Once we get a waterproof mattress cover we'll work on sleeping in "Un-un-uning"
Dylan also can dress and undress himself, even socks, "all by himself"! He's so independent - it's incredible. Ever since little miss came into our world, he looks so much bigger than he did before! And he feels so much heavier than our little sack-o-potatoes...
Verbally, his speech is really improving. It's sad to see some of his baby words go away, but at the same time it's great to be able to understand more of what he is saying! I wonder if Jocelyn will be more verbal more quickly. Not in a big hurry to find out though!
Singing - the kid sings ALL THE TIME! He never stops singing - always has a song on his lips and in his heart. Dylan makes up songs about what he's doing at the time or what he wants, and he loves all the Disney movies and sings all the songs from those. He also has to have a song for every superhero... most have their theme songs, but some we have just made up (or he has made up) to sing while playing with them! It's really cute and I love that he is so musical.
Next time won't you sing with me! Dylan has known his "ABC's" for quite awhile, and now we're working on writing all his letters! He's doing so well... I will have to download some pictures of his letters to include in this post later, but we made a shoebox town the other day and he wrote "PET STORE" (all except for the S) and "HARRIS TEETER" (our grocery store) signs for the buildings. He can't read the signs but he can write the letters! Still working on his name... letters with diagonal lines are a challenge (Y, A, and N) but he's got his D down and his L.
Dylan continues to make me so proud to be his mom - not that I have anything to boast about, but that God would choose to let me be his mom is just an awesome priviledge and responsibility that I take very seriously. Praying for the grace and the strength to continue to parent him in a way that would show him his need for the Savior. Rejoicing in the precious time I have had to spend with him so far. Loving being Dylan's mommy!
